There is more than one way to prepare an avocado, but there is only one tool that can do all of these things. Australian kitchenware brand, Savannah, has designed an innovative five-in-one avocado tool – the award-winning Avo Shark.
The clever and unique implement handles the entire preparation process from the first cut to the final mash:
1. Cut: Use the main, serrated blade (which is covered with a protective sheath, shaped like the back and dorsal fin of a shark for safe storage) to cut the avocado in half.
2. De-Pip: Remove the pip by using the adjustable ‘grip’ on the under the surface of the blade (the ‘jaws’ of the shark) – the grip can be adjusted to any size pip. Teeth on either end grip the pip securely with one end being fully adjustable by simply moving a small slide control.
3. Scoop: The ‘tail fin’ of the Avo Shark is actually a stainless steel slotted scoop that is shaped perfectly for removing all flesh from the avocado shell in one go.
4. Slice and/or Mash: The flesh can then be sliced using the serrated blade or mashed using the slotted scoop. Both the blade and the scoop have been positioned so they don’t leave remnants of avocado on the bench when not in use.
