Description: According to international stylist and newly appointed Head Colourist Stephanie Griffiths of Barney Martin Hairdressing, 2013 is the year for iced blondes, dramatic fire engine reds and burnt browns. Balayage and dip dyed ends will be reversed to the roots along with the introduction of the new technique of veiling.
Stephanie’s predictions for 2013 include:
Iced Blondes: This is an extreme cool blonde, not pastel or warm but an ice cool finish. Fantastic on natural blondes and suits fair skin tones. Great on short cuts.
Reds: Dramatic fire engine reds will replace more copper subtle tones. It will be more of a block colour to give the high gloss red that really stands out.
Burnt Browns: These warmer colour browns will have a more copper undertone to give a rustic look. They will be high gloss and multi-tonal.
Reverse Balayage and Dip Dyed Ends: This will be crazy colour at the roots and crown moving down to the more natural tones at the end. Very extreme and not for the faint hearted!
Veiling: This technique creates hidden panels of colour so when the hair is flipped from side to side or tied back it exposes the contrasting colour of the hidden panels. This is great for a conservative look in the day and a more playful look when going out.
